In a study done by the American Journal of Clinical Research, it was concluded that a small amount of alcohol consumption (only 24 grams, approximately one and a half 355 ml 4% beers.) decreased the body’s fat burning ability by as much as 73%!
When you think of all the hours you spend sitting, that’s definitely not ideal.
So why does this happen?
Your body uses multiple types of fuel: protein, carbohydrates, and fat. And it’s not fussy, it will burn whatever is available at the time.
When you drink alcohol and it gets processed by the liver, the by-product is called acetate. The more acetate available, the more likely your body will use it as fuel, and the less likely your body will burn fat.
